Make dough yourself – easy recipe with citric acid
Making do it yourself is a great idea even for toddlers from 2 years – as I said, you should not worry that the child can put the putty in his mouth. For our first recipe you need the following ingredients:
- Food coloring
- 500ml of water
- 200g salt
- 400g of flour
- 3 tbsp sunflower oil
- 2 tablespoons of citric acid or tartar tartar powder
Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan. In the meantime, add the flour, salt, oil and citric acid. When the water begins to boil, pour in the ingredients and stir well with the hand mixer. When the mass cools down, knead it into a smooth dough with your hands. Then you can divide the dough into small bowls and color as required. Already finished! The fun games with the clay would stimulate the child’s imagination, and it will also boost motor skills. The homemade dough is durable for up to 6 months, if you pack them airtight – preferably in aluminum foil or freezer bags and tupper boxes with lids.
Make supple putty with alum
Slightly smoother is the dough, if you prepare it with alum. The powder can be found in any pharmacy, but the recipe is not suitable for toddlers, because in this case, the plasticine must not be eaten. Use the same ingredients from the recipe above, replacing only the citric acid with alum.
Make clay yourself with shaving cream
Making dough yourself is faster without cooking. The recipe is again unsuitable for infants because it uses ingredients that are not allowed in the mouth. All you need is some shaving cream and cornmeal or cornflour kneaded together. At the end you can make the dough again with food colors of your choice. To avoid dirt and mess in the kitchen, do not mix the ingredients on the worktop, but in a sufficiently large bowl. A great idea would be to give the finished knead mass a pleasant scent – you can do that with a packet of powdered drink or 3-4 drops of essential oil of your choice.
Gorgeous recipe for edible plasticine
This recipe for edible play dough is just perfect for toddlers. You need:
- 350g of flour
- 150g powdered sugar
- 100ml of water
- 3-4 pinches of salt
- 5 teaspoons sunflower oil
- 2 packets of vanilla sugar
- lemon flavor
- Food colors or natural powder colors
The preparation of the clay is super easy: you should all ingredients (without the water and the food colors) mix in a large bowl, pour over with the water and knead until you get a homogeneous dough. Then dye the plasticine as you like and start tinkering. If desired, you could also add glitter to the finished clay to make it even more original.
