Palm oil contains about 52 percent saturated fat – with this proportion, it is not one of the healthiest types of fat. But it is exceptionally rich in carotenes – natural palm oil contains 50 times more carotenes than tomatoes and about 15 times more than carrots! For this reason, it is really useful for the skin and eyes, and finds application in a number of cosmetic products. Palm oil also contains powerful antioxidants that fight against harmful free radicals and slow down the cell’s aging process. These include, for example, vitamin E – the “beauty vitamin”, and coenzyme Q10. And when it comes to its nutritional value – compared to other vegetable and animal fats, palm oil is not high in calories at all. 100g of them contain about 900 calories, so you could eat palm oil even if you are on a diet.
