Autumn crafts with children: funny owls from toilet paper rolls
Autumn tinkering with children is a wonderful way to say “welcome” in the new season. And the shared creative activity will make the little ones overjoyed – try our suggestions to see for yourself! Our first idea is actually for funny owls from toilet paper rolls that can be made super light. For this you need: 2-3 empty toilet paper rolls, acrylic paints and brushes, scissors, pencil, craft glue, compass, black felt-tip pen, as well as wiggle eyes, crepe, felt and construction paper for decorating. First, you should paint the outside of the rolls of toilet paper with the desired color and let it dry out completely – with this task could also create the children. In the meantime, make your eyes and beak – you could either use ready-made wiggle eyes, or simply cut them out of paper by helping with the compass, and painting the pupil in the center with black felt-tip pen. Make the beak out of craft felt. If desired, you can also cut out sheets of construction paper and fold them 4-5 times to make them look more realistic. Take the already dry toilet paper rolls and fold the upper edges inwards towards the middle by pressing down with your fingers – this is how the owl will get its ears. In the end, just stick your eyes, wings and beak. Finished! Since most of the children like the animal motifs, you could also make a hedgehog together – ideas and instructions can be found Autumn crafts with children: romantic lanterns
Is there anything better than the autumn crafts with natural materials? For our next idea, we suggest you take a walk with the children and collect colorful Herbsslättern, because we make a beautiful lighthouse, with which you can decorate the living room, children’s room or terrace. In addition to foliage, you also need a large mason jar, white glue, brush, tealights, a little bast or a bow, and, if desired, a little black and orange felt. Allow the pages to dry between the pages of a book (use newspaper to avoid damaging the book). Generously rub the glass with the white glue and stick the leaves on it (best on the outside because dry leaves are easily flammable). Then apply a layer of glue with the brush – after drying, the glue will be invisible. Decorate the glass with a little raffia or a bow and make a small pumpkin out of the felt, which will make your lantern even more beautiful.
Autumn crafts with children – original leaves curtain
Another creative crafting idea for the fall is to make a playful leaf curtain and thus to decorate the nursery. For this purpose you should cut out yellow, red and orange leaves from craft felt – to make it easier, use templates by simply repainting their edge with a pencil on the felt. For a large window curtain you need a maximum of 80 leaves. Cut 10 threads of wool of different lengths (but not too short!) And start with a wool needle to thread the felt sheets on top. Between the individual leaves you should leave a distance of 10-15cm. When the leaves are over, tie a knot under the last leaf and cut the thread. The upper end knots on the branch by leaving a uniform distance between the individual threads. The branch can be fixed to the wall with dowels and eyelets. And done!
